The naturalist/educators of The Nature of Things give live animal presentations in a variety of different settings. The program travels to nursery schools, childcare centers, elementary schools, recreation centers, libraries, summer camps, fairs, religious gatherings, community events, and senior citizen centers. Each program is designed for its specific audience addressing the group’s level of understanding and the time allotted.  In all instances, the programs presented are age appropriate with nature related materials including artifacts and literacy selections.

We are often asked to supplement more sophisticated science curricula, which we are happy to coordinate with middle and high school faculty. In addition to our typical small group presentations, many may be extended for larger groups.

The Nature of Things travels to Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties in NY, and in Fairfield County, CT. We also travel to points north and south, including New York City and Rockland County. Not sure if we go there, ask us!

Visits may be scheduled weekly, monthly, seasonally, and annually. Invite one of our educators to spend a day at your school or facility!

Summer Camps

Sure, the campers love to do arts & crafts, go swimming, and play sports, but everybody needs a little down time in the shade. The Nature of Things brings animals to camp weekly or monthly and we can coordinate with the camp’s special themes.  (Please note that we love doing programs outside, but our mammals and birds cannot be in temperatures over 85 degrees).

Fairs and Large Events

"What kind of snake is that?" asks an enquiring adult not quite sure if this is an animal they want to touch. Yet, just like that, their child has walked over to TNOT’s live animal exhibit to learn by touching, looking, listening, and even pretending. Before you know it, adults are joining in on the hands-on learning experience, too. Are you planning a school fair, company picnic, or maybe even a family reunion? Invite The Nature of Things to be a part of your next event!
