Meet Our Mammals

What is a mammal? A mammal is an animal whose babies are born alive. The babies are fed milk from the mother’s body.  A mammal has a backbone and well-developed brain.  They also have fur or hair and are warm-blooded (they make their own heat).

Our mammals include:

Gerbils

Black Bear Hamster

Teddy Bear Hamsters

Guinea Pigs

African Pygmy Hedgehogs

Sugar Gliders

Spiny Mice

Ferrets

Rabbits

Chinchillas

**Please note that even though this is a comprehensive list of all of our animals, not all of these animals are appropriate to bring to programs.  In these cases, it is left to the discretion of the environmental educator**
