The Nature of Things

The professional Environmental Education Staff at "The Nature of Things" (TNOT) present live animal presentations in a variety of different settings. We travel to nursery schools, childcare centers, elementary schools, recreation centers, libraries, summer camps, fairs, and senior citizen centers. Each program is designed for its specific audience, age level, and length of time.  We strive to develop and present programs that are age appropriate with nature related materials. We can also supplement science curriculums.  Most of our programs are oriented for small groups, but may be extended for larger groups at an extra cost for additional educators.

We travel throughout Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties in NY, and in Fairfield County, CT. Our visits can be scheduled weekly, monthly, seasonally, and annually. Invite one of our educators to spend a day at your school or facility.

Single Class Presentations for a Minimum of 1 ^1/2 hours at the Site:

$158.00 per hour- Zone A (sites within a 25 mile radius of North Salem)

$173.00 per hour- Zone B (sites within a 26-35 mile radius of North Salem)

$194.00-$273.00 per hour- Zone C (sites over a 35 mile radius of North Salem, call for more pricing info)

Multiple Visits per School Year (more than 3 visits per school year) for a minimum of 1 ^1/2 hours at site:

$144.00 per hour- Zone A

$160.00 per hour- Zone B

$180.00-$250.00 per hour- Zone C

Are you looking for an after school activity for your child that will enhance what they are learning at school? We offer enrichment nature themed programs at nursery and elementary schools. Each class may include meeting the animals, games, stories, and/or a nature-related craft.

Fees: $149.00 to $152.00 per hour (includes nature crafts and noon programs may include time for lunch).

 

Liven up your after school program with some animal fun! Let us come to your after school program to help along those rainy days or just make those sunny days a more wonderful experience.

Fees: $126.00 to $149.00 --includes 1 hour instruction, live animals weekly, snacks (where allowed), and care for children until pick-up

 

Whether your library’s book of the month is Charlotte’s Web or a story about a safari adventure, why not schedule a program with The Nature Of Things to bring animals that might be featured in your weekly or monthly theme?

Fees: $250.00 to $375.00 per hour (Additional educators will be provided depending upon the number of Library participants.)

 

Sure, the campers love to do arts & crafts, go swimming, and play sports, but everybody needs a little down time in the shade.  TNOT brings animals to camp weekly or monthly with special themes.  (Please note that we love doing programs outside, but our mammals and birds cannot be in temperatures over 85 degrees).

Fees: $144.00 to $250.00 per hour with a minimum booking of 1 ½ hours. Fees determined by location of facility. Usual length of individual classes is 30 to 45 mins.

 

"What kind of snake is that?" asks an enquiring adult not quite sure if this is an animal they want to touch. Yet, just like that, their child has walked over to TNOT’s live animal exhibit to learn by touching, looking, listening, and even pretending. Before you know it, adults are joining in on the hands-on learning experience, too. Are you planning a school fair, company picnic, or maybe even a family reunion? We would love to be a part of your day.

Fees: starts at $400.00 depending on length of program, number of participants, location, and number of educators needed.

Anyone, no matter their age, can let their imaginations and memories run wild. The imaginations of the seniors at your adult center are sure to do just that when TNOT visits for a one-hour program with animals from all over the world.
